Sencha Nouveau, also known as Shincha Sencha, is one of the finest and highly anticipated first flush tea of Japan. Harvested between mid-April to early May, this exceptional Japanese green tea is the result of a special cultivation method called Kabuse Cha, which shades the tea plants from sunlight for at least 4 to 14 days, allowing the plant to generate chlorophyll and absorb more minerals from the rich soil.
The freshly-picked tea leaves are processed within the same day of harvest and undergo Fukamushi-Cha, a deep steaming process which yields deep, vivid jade hued leaves with a hint of ooi-ka. A unique characteristic of Sencha Nouveau, the infusion yields a brilliant fluorescent green cup, a sweet, grassy, umami flavour, and a velvety aftertaste.
